Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan mengembangkan game berbasis desktop berjudul Reverie Within, yaitu permainan 2D pixel bergenre horor, role-playing game (RPG), dan teka-teki yang berfokus pada penyediaan pengalaman hiburan interaktif melalui eksplorasi, pemecahan teka-teki, dan mekanisme pengambilan keputusan karakter. Pengembangan game dilakukan menggunakan metode Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) yang terdiri atas tahapan Concept, Design, Material Collecting, Assembly, dan Testing. Game dikembangkan menggunakan GameMaker 2024 dengan aset visual bergaya pixel art yang dibuat menggunakan Clip Studio Paint dan ditujukan untuk platform desktop berbasis Windows. Untuk menciptakan perilaku Non-Player Character (NPC) yang dinamis dan adaptif, diterapkan algoritma decision-making yang memungkinkan NPC menentukan tindakan berdasarkan kondisi permainan secara real-time. Melalui algoritma tersebut, NPC dapat melakukan berbagai tindakan, seperti mengejar, menghindari, atau berinteraksi dengan karakter utama sehingga mampu meningkatkan tantangan dan pengalaman bermain. Pemain berperan sebagai karakter utama yang terjebak dalam dunia mimpi menyerupai lingkungan sekolah dan harus menemukan jalan keluar melalui eksplorasi area, interaksi dengan lingkungan, serta penyelesaian berbagai teka-teki yang tersedia. Pengujian dilakukan menggunakan metode Black Box Testing dan Beta Testing. Hasil Black Box Testing menunjukkan bahwa seluruh fitur utama game berhasil berfungsi sesuai dengan rancangan yang telah ditentukan. Sementara itu, Beta Testing dilakukan secara tertutup dengan melibatkan 29 responden yang terdiri dari mahasiswa STMIK Widya Cipta Dharma dan peserta umum. Hasil pengujian memperoleh tingkat kelayakan sebesar 90,00%, yang menunjukkan bahwa game memiliki kualitas yang sangat baik dari aspek gameplay, tampilan visual, audio, kemudahan penggunaan, dan pengalaman bermain. Berdasarkan hasil pengembangan dan pengujian yang dilakukan, game Reverie Within berhasil dikembangkan sebagai media hiburan yang menarik, interaktif, dan menghibur.=================================This research aims to design and develop a desktop-based game entitled Reverie Within, a 2D pixel game that combines horror, role-playing game (RPG), and puzzle genres to provide an interactive entertainment experience through exploration, puzzle-solving, and character decision-making mechanics. The game was developed using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method, which consists of the stages of Concept, Design, Material Collecting, Assembly, and Testing. The game was created using GameMaker 2024, with pixel art visual assets designed in Clip Studio Paint, and was developed for the Windows desktop platform. To create dynamic and adaptive Non-Player Character (NPC) behavior, a decision-making algorithm was implemented, enabling NPCs to determine their actions based on real-time game conditions. Through this algorithm, NPCs can perform various actions such as chasing, avoiding, or interacting with the main character, thereby increasing the challenge and overall gameplay experience. Players take the role of a main character trapped in a dream-like world resembling a school environment and must find a way to escape through exploration, environmental interaction, and puzzle-solving activities. The game was evaluated using Black Box Testing and Beta Testing methods. The results of Black Box Testing showed that all major game features functioned according to the predefined design specifications. Meanwhile, Beta Testing was conducted with 29 respondents consisting of students from STMIK Widya Cipta Dharma and members of the general public. The testing results achieved a feasibility score of 90.00%, indicating that the game has very good quality in terms of gameplay, visual appearance, audio, usability, and overall player experience. Based on the development and testing results, Reverie Within was successfully developed as an engaging, interactive, and entertaining digital game.
